This architectural project is an addition to a heritage-registered courthouse, designed as a contemporary residence that celebrates the surrounding garden and the transition from rural to urban living.
Inspired by the courthouse’s enduring strength and stability, the addition features a minimalist design that contrasts with the building’s intricate historical features. Its clean lines and natural materials—such as warm woods and textured concrete—create a sleek façade, while repetitive design elements enhance the sense of space.
Inside, the open layout and high ceilings foster a light-filled, serene atmosphere, with large windows framing views of the garden. Outdoor terraces extend from living areas, promoting a seamless connection with nature. This design strikes a balance between honoring history and accommodating modern living, resulting in a harmonious and unique addition.
